Ian Blair illegally recorded phone calls

According to Colcam, the Met Police chief, Ian Blair appears to be in more trouble, following revelations that he secretly recorded phone calls, oh dear:

A spokesman for the Attorney General confirmed he had not been aware the phone call was being recorded.

Lord Goldsmith is said to be "rather cross" and "somewhat disappointed" at the revelation and is reported to be looking for answers to why Sir Ian took the action he did.

why should Lord Goldsmith be told when being taped, when none of us are asked before our private conversations are listened to?

Well, it seems to me that if you're going to have a law on recording phone calls it should apply in all cases, whichever way that would be, the worrying thing in this case is that Goldsmith wasn't the only one who was secretly recorded by Blair, it seems many others were also recorded, and those are only the ones we know about.

I'd record all my calls if I weren't so damned lazy.

Well, I know there is equipment you can buy to record calls. I think that sort of thing is sold at most electrical shops now, although i'm not sure on that.
