    Fearmongering in the media

This article, from the Halifax Courier, appears to me to perfectly sum up the problem with the media in not only this country, but elsewhere. The author of the article writes that:

Police said the arrests were not connected to terror bombings in London last July.

Then, the author goes on to describe in detail the events of last July's London bombings:

Fifty-two people died and more than 700 were injured when three explosions rocked the London Underground within a minute of each other in the morning rush hour. A bus was blown up at 9.47am. It was the deadliest bombing in London since the Second World War and the first suicide bombing in Western Europe.......

If police have stated that these arrests have absolutely nothing to do with those London bombings, then why is the author of this article going to great lengths to attach last years terrorist attacks to these arrests? It seems to me there is one reason, and one reason only, and that is fear mongering.
