Brown under fire for ignoring NHS in budget

This report from the Edinburgh Evening News:

Mr Brown's only commitment on health was a promise to increase nursing pay above 2.25 per cent. But there was remarkably little about NHS finance and no comment on the rise in doctors' salaries currently bogged down in the Downing Street row over where it should be staged or not.

The NHS has already had billions more since 1997.
The problem is not the money, it's how it's being used (wasted) on hiring endless admin types to keep score rather than on staff or infrastructure.

All this talk of Brown being next PM (heaven forbid), surely Blair can't just appoint him, doesn't the party have to elect a new leader if Blair resigns ?

Thanks for the comment Yak, indeed, i've often said in the past that the NHS needs to focus its energies on patient care, rather than more management, etc..

And you would have thought the Labour Party would have to "elect" a new leader, quite obviously, anointing is Blair's preferred choice.
