America wants Japan to pay 75% towards relocation of marines

According to this article, from Xinhua, America has "asked" Japan to pay 75% of the costs of moving their marines from Okinawa to Guam. Why should Japan have to pay anything, according to a lot of reports, US marines have caused nothing but trouble in Japan, if anything, the US should be paying Japan compensation for all the reported sexual assault cases:

The total cost is estimated to be 10 billion U.S. dollars and Japan is asked to pay 7.5 billion dollars through direct grants and loans. The cost, mentioned in recent talks between the two countries in the United States, is a "preliminary" figure.

The United States offered to move 8,000 marines in Okinawa to Guam instead of an earlier agreed plan to move 6,000 to Guam and 1,000 elsewhere in Japan, the U.S. officials said to Japanese reporters on Tuesday in Washington.

Ufortunately, a portion of my taxes paid here go toward funding the U.S. bases in Japan.

Why should anyone have to pay for their bases though, as I said, it really should be the other way round if anything.

That's not far from saying something like this:
"Africans have caused nothing but trouble in Britain, if anything, Africa should be paying Britain compensation for all the reported sexual assault cases."

Actually, ockham's edge, that is nothing like what I said, you are actually fairly close to being in violation of our posting policy, in my opinion it's not quite there, however, should djeb wish to remove the post and this one for being in breach, then I would quite understand why.

    I'll give you a clue - Africa isn't a country.

I don't see how that makes any difference - I could have referred to Nigerians if I'd wanted to. My point is that majority-white, Christian countries seem to be fair game when it comes to hurling insults around. I'm trying to highlight an "acceptable" double standard when it comes to insulting Western countries. Throwaway comments about sexual assaults by non-white countries would never be tolerated in a left-wing blog.

For the record, I'm no supporter of the USA's conquests and I'm also an atheist.

As for my remarks about DJEB - he's an adult and I'm sure he can take it.

What has being a so called "Christian country" got to do with anything? My comment about sexual assaults was in relation to the widespread sexual abuse committed by US military personnel. US military personnel are, in this case representatives in another country, and should act with respect at all times. Perhaps the notions of shame and respect have no place in your vocabulary?

Ockham's Edge Look at our posting policy to see why the following was deleted:

"But that's not why you made the comment, is it. Your aim was to purely to slur the USA. The activities of Zimbabwe's military also make shocking reading but it makes surprisingly few headlines in left-wing blogs."

I have stated the reason why I made the comment, which is factual. Either reply with facts, not claims that you know what i'm thinking, or have further posts removed. I will not respond further if you continue down this path.

Not to mention supporting the racist , whale-killing, nationalist Japanese government.

Still, as long as they're paying you money, who's complaining DJEB ; )

Oh, hello. You Wanted to see if we were serious about our posting policy. Now you know.

And one final thing. Please explain fully why the death of American Marines fighting whatever ruthless enemy means that we in Japan need to pay for the bases. The existence of your post hinges on a logical answer to this.

Oh, Ocham's Edge, you managed to get in at least one more post after i'd left then, ok.

Well, I mentioned the notions of shame and respect, as, by the tone of your comments here, and in the other thread, you seemingly found those notions difficult to understand.

Oh, and when you've replied to djeb's point, perhaps you can tell me exactly how long ago those 18,900 Americans died fighting a ruthless enemy, in the context of the continual existence of their bases in Japan today.

You've been back to the site, I know, but you refused to back up your comment. Thus it was axed. And judging by your love for unsubstantiated assertions and non sequiturs, you can expect a lot of your comments to get deleted here.
