    Newsflash!: Cheney shoots a man.

Honest. It's true. From the AP:

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) -- Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and wounded a companion during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, spraying the fellow hunter in the face and chest with shotgun pellets.

Harry Whittington, a millionaire attorney from Austin, was in stable condition in the intensive care unit of a Corpus Christi hospital Sunday, said Yvonne Wheeler, spokeswoman for the Christus Spohn Health System.

The accident occurred Saturday at a ranch in south Texas where the vice president and several companions were hunting quail. It was not reported publicly by the vice president's office for nearly 24 hours, and then only after it was reported locally by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times on its Web site Sunday.

Katharine Armstrong, the ranch's owner, said Sunday that Cheney was using a 28-guage shotgun and that Whittington was about 30 yards away when he was hit in the cheek, neck and chest.

Time for that tough on crime Republican justice. Will he get the chair? Will he get put on a chain gang? (Will he walk away from this without so much as a revoked hunting licence?)

I heard about this last night, as soon as I heard about it I thought there was probably more to this than meets the eye, there most likely is, but we'll probably never know.

I think the "more than meets the eye" part is that the man is a dipshit.

Does anyone have any information about WHO he shot??? That would be the first step in finding out that which does not meet the eye.

And djeb, that is true, except there's no mystery about it. Dick IS a dick!

How do you shoot a companion when you're hunting BIRDS?

The real puzzle is, why are our posts out of sync? Perhaps b/c I'm responding be email, but Blogger hasn't caught up?

Yeah, spelling was okay, but I left out a WHOLE WORD and made the sentence sound silly.

As for out of sync, I have no idea. Strange stuff.... maybe some kind of time/space continuim hiccup?

Well, it seems that a Cheney adviser somewhat bizarrely believes that Cheney has done nothing wrong, i've posted about it just now.

This Harry Whittington was quite a capable lawyer it seems, who had won some sort of "eminent domain case" in Austin, Texas.

I wonder what would have happened to Whittington, if he'd have shot Cheney? My guess is he'd have been carted off by the SS, is Cheney incapable of being prosecuted by authorities? Presumably, everyone would agree that if a civilian had done the same thing as Cheney, there would be some sort of prosecution?

It's a tough call. I would figure that there would be a wreckless endangerment charge, but it is the gun-friendly U.S. (even more so in Texas where one has a right to shoot repo men). If he had killed him, there certainly would be a charge.

The moral is, don't let doofus old men - especially if they look like mean, old Mr. Potter but are twice as mean - near guns.

Well, djeb, after the latest events, if Cheney asked someone to go hunting with him, I would hope they'd refuse, for their own safety. Quite obviously, Cheney is in no fit state to carry a gun.

It was a hunting accident. Which must obviously translate into some kind of conspiracy. How dumb is that. I'm appalled that people are as stupid as this. Well, as stupid as most of these comments anyway. Seriously, think for yourself and don't be a hack.

No, I'll leave it here to let others see how idiotic your ranting is. I've spend the entire time top to bottom saying that it was a hunting accident.

So you've got your freedom os spee... er moronic rant.

Raven Flight, whoever said this was a so called"conspiracy theory"?

"More than meets the eye" could mean something as simple as the fact that I was merely wondering at the time whether Cheney could possibly have had some sort of health problems at the time of the shooting, hardly a "conspiracy theory", when you consider that the madman does have a heart condition.

Here's an interesting video. The person in the video claims his investigation to be "scientific," which it certainly is NOT. Any first year bachelor of science student can point out the flaws in the experiment (and it's a bit silly sometimes), but it certainly asks some interesting questions. That being, with the Bush administration, every they say and do is suspect.
