Arnold's hometown may rename stadium “Stanley Tookie Williams Stadium”

    From Democracy Now! :

In Austria, birthplace of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, opposition politicians proposed stripping Schwarzenegger of citizenship and removing his name from a sports stadium in his hometown. One group suggested it be re-named “Stanley Tookie Williams Stadium.”

    Update:

    From the BBC:

California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has hit back at his Austrian home town Graz after officials criticised his death penalty stance.

Mr Schwarzenegger demanded that Graz stop using his name for a sports stadium and sent back a "ring of honour" bestowed on him in 1999.

Congratulations, this post only violated one posting policy. Into the void it goes.

What was the violation, I ask myself as I read? The renaming of Arnold's hometown stadium after Stanley Tookie Williams, a co-founder of the notorious gang called the Crips?

It's amazing how so many people around the world know about this gentleman even in Austria. Noted for his writings regarding anti-gang violence.

However, the former gang leader was not accepted politically because he failed to disclose gang related information and co-operation with enforcement authorities?

Moving forward, perhaps some individuals were gratified by his death in the hands of the state of California, but gang violence continues.

The message is clear to gangsters around the country, it does not pay to convert or leave the gang life because this is what happens to converts like Tookie.

Certainly the death of Tookie does not instill fear in the hearts of pure gangters around the country, it only stimulates more apprehension or defiance against the government or authorities.

In there minds, there is no way out of the gang life. And if you leave and try to be positive by discouraging others to join gangs, the authorities will not favor you in any way especially if you do not snitch.

Speaking of snitching, how about police officers snitching on other police offers? Here is a code of silence that is prevalent around the law enforcement community.

Be that as it may, what is the difference between the police's code of silence and the street's code of silience (no snitching policy)?? --- Pall Stanley
