More than 3000 members of Louisiana National Guard are in Iraq

I wonder where those members of the Louisiana National Guard really should be, in Louisiana, helping to deal with a disaster in the homeland, or in a foreign land, fighting an illegal and unnecessary war that cannot be won. BTC News has this report:

More than 3,000 members of the Louisiana National Guard’s 256th Brigade serving in Iraq can only watch from Baghdad as Hurricane Katrina bears down on their families and homes in New Orleans and the other south Louisiana communities from which they hail. The deployed soldiers and their equipment, which includes high water vehicles, Humvees and generators, will be sorely missed as Louisiana attempts to prepare for and recover from the historic Category Five storm.
Citizens of New Orleans should demand that these National Guard troops are returned immediately to deal with something that is much more important than Bush's project in Iraq. See all recent "A Logical Voice" posts Addendum:
Louisiana has 65 percent of its troops available for state missions; Mississippi, 60 percent; Alabama, 77 percent; and Florida, 74 percent, Guard officials said.

In other words, Louisiana and Mississippi have more than a third unavailable, Alabama nearly a quarter unavailable, and Florida over a quarter unavailable. [DJEB]

OH yeah, if they weren't in Iraq then we would be able to respond to the hurricane victims better. And if George Bush would stop driving an SUV, we wouldn't have global warming and we wouldn't have any hurricanes to begin with. Keep up the good work. You expose yourself further with every new posting.

You're skating on very thin ice with this comment Dumb Hillbilly, however, i'll allow this comment to remain, while i'm feeling generous.

Yes, of course there would be more resources available to victims if they hadn't been diverted elsewhere. Why are you disputing that fact?

Did you consciously say to yourself, "I'm going to post a straw man attack and see if it gets deleted"?

This is the last time I'm not going to second guess Voice on posting policy. One more time and you get the axe.

But lets look at the ridiculous crap you posted:

    1. The 3000 members of the Louisianna National Guard who are in Iraq would not be able to do anything to help with aid and recovery operations in their state were they home.

    2. Global warming would be reversed if only one man - the President - would drive a more fuel efficient car.

    3. The global system of hurricanes, which has existed through the entire course of human history and likely throught the history of oceans on the planet is the result of one man born on July 6th, 1946 driving a fuel inefficient vehicle.

Well, as none of us made these claims, your attempt to smear us has indeed exposed something - something that reflects poorly on yourself only.

Anyway, as I said, try it again. I'm not feeling generous.
