This crime must not go unpunished

Not only must the murder of Jean Charles de menezes not go unpunished, but it must never be allowed to happen again. This report from the Guardian takes a look at what the relatives have had to say, and about false reports which have appeared in the press about the shooting, those false reports, of course led by the police:

Jean Charles de Menezes, the Brazilian shot dead in the head, was not wearing a heavy jacket that might have concealed a bomb, and did not jump the ticket barrier when challenged by armed plainclothes police, his cousin said yesterday. Speaking at a press conference after a meeting with the Metropolitan police, Vivien Figueiredo, 22, said that the first reports of how her 27-year-old cousin had come to be killed in mistake for a suicide bomber on Friday at Stockwell tube station were wrong.
If the police have been willing to lie about the circumstances involving the murder of an innocent man, what else have they been lying about? See all recent "A Logical Voice" posts

How does she(the cousin) know what he did or didn't do at the turnstile ? The other cousin says he had no reason to fear the authorities - so why didn't he stop ?

Still lots to learn so I'm not taking sides yet.

My Brazilian friends are outraged by this killing.

Maybe he did have reason to fear the authorities.
"We have seen a copy of Mr Menezes' passport containing a stamp apparently giving him indefinite leave to remain in the UK. "

"On investigation, this stamp was not one that was in use by the Immigration and Nationality Directorate on the date given."

    Illegal immigrant with fraudelent docs.

There are plenty of media accounts with direct quotes from eyewitnesses. That's how.

"The other cousin says he had no reason to fear the authorities - so why didn't he stop ?"

As I was reading elsewhere, being afraid of young thuggish looking men carrying guns and wearing regular clothes would make a good number of people scared - "terrified" is the word one eyewitness used to describe the look on Jean's face.

"Maybe he did have reason to fear the authorities...
    Illegal immigrant with fraudelent docs."

Maybe you are looking for a post hoc excuse that has already been denied.

It might have been denied by the Brasilians but your link did nothing to refute the Home Office statement.
Yes, his initial status was OK but how would the Brasilian gov't know about any suspect passport stamp ?
He was apparently an illegal immigrant which might explain why he didn't stop when hailed, which is my interest in one side - "his side" - of this (absent any eyewitness reports, I've not seen anything credible yet).
    Time will tell.

Jez, indeed, we must, it is important that jean Charles de Menezes' murdererd are punished for their crime, just as any police murderers would be punished. I very much doubt police murderers would have family holidays paid for by the police either, but apparently if the police murder anyone, they now apparently get a family holiday paid for them.

Yak, there have been plenty of eyewitness accounts, some of which have been posted at this blog which completely contradict what the police have said. They have lied, and it's that simple.

Sangroncito, i'm not surprised they are outraged. No doubt they will also be outraged that this mans murderers have family holidays paid for by the police.

And his resident status, whatever it may have been, does not change the fact that the whole thing was raised as a post hoc excuse for a man being shot in the back while subdued.

Indeed DJEB, there is no excuse for murder.
