British Home Office, now murder apologists

In my opinion it is absolutely obscene that the British Home Office should try to claim that the murdered Brazilian, Jean Charles de Menezes was an illegal immigrant to this country, in some cynical attempt to manipulate public opinion in their favour. The Independent reports on the murder apologist's statement. Charles Clarke and his department should be absolutely ashamed of themselves, and I wouldn't put it past them to claim anything in order to get themselves out of trouble. It does nothing to excuse what happened and I don't know their motive but his illegal status is relevant because it might explain his behaviour when confronted by the cops. I'm still curious about this facet of the incident.

well, depending on who you believe, obviously. More to the point, was he shot 8 times while subdued, as a witness claimed, and could he reasonably be claimed to be acting suspisciously?

Being legal or illegal does not excuse being shot in the back while subdued and from now until the end of time it never will.

actually, it seems he might have been shot in the mouth and jaw. This is still only based on witnesses, mind you. Still nothing from the inquiry.

Let's see the stamps or visa(s), I'm more inclined to believe the Home Office but if the Brasilians have other data then let's see it ALL.

I'm honestly not sure who I'd trust. I'd love to see the stamps-not that I'd know the difference between a real and a fake!

Copy and paste. I can say it a million times if this non sequitur persists.

Yak, whether or not Jean Charles de Menezes was legally or illegally in this country does not excuse being shot in the head at close range in such a way as he was.

No one here said it did, BUT it might explain his behaviour, which was my clearly stated point.

Now one here said it, but every time I see it, it is in the context of defending the police actions.
