1 million Iraqis say "US out"

The Information Clearing House has this report:

The Muqtada al-Sadr followers say they have collected the signatures of one million Iraqis asking that US and other Coalition troops leave the country immediately. In his sermon at an East Baghdad mosque, Shaikh Abdul Zahra al-Suwaidi told the congregation, "We obtained the Iraqi signatures demanding the withdrawal of the occupation troops as asked for by Sayyed Moqtada Sadr . . . The goal of this petition is to show the world the rejection by Iraqis of foreigners in Iraq . . ."

Wow, I'm impressed. 3.4% of the population are so adamant about the U.S. leaving that they signed a petition to that affect.

Should we compare that to the number of Iraqis who bravely faced threats of death to turn out and vote?

What did your 1 million risk... writer's cramp?

If we went by your rhetoric we would have packed up and left southern Florida during Hurricane Andrew Recovery because the gang bangers didn't want the U.S. Army there.

Are you "here to satire it all"?

You've left a few things out. First, that one million Iraqis (or anyone else for that matter) signing a petion is a huge number.

Second, that the election, which the Shia hard fought for though non-violent protest but which the U.S. rejected as long as it could, is not related to whether or not the Shia are happy being occupied.

Third, polls have shown for a long time that Iraqis want their occupation over.

Finally, I suggest you read this before posting again. You are skating on thin ice.
