"Oi Two Jags, Hit Targets, Not Voters"

According to this article, from the Guardian, protesters from Greenpeace are apparently staging a protest on the roof of John Prescott's house in Hull:

A spokesman for Greenpeace said the group were attempting to install a solar panel on the roof of his constituency home in Hull in a bid to highlight the Government's record on energy.

I have no love at all for Prescott (or the rest of the Labour party for that matter) but in this case I hope he sues them for trespass & damages. What gives Greenpeace et al the right to pull a stunt like this ?
Why didn't the police arrest them right off the bat, don't they do anything any more?

    The Telegraph reports:
"Insp Mike Sansom, of Humberside Police, said: "They are carrying out a non-violent protest and we are monitoring the situation."

Wouldn't a protest be expected to take place, say, in the street in front of the house ? Climbing on the roof, hanging banners etc is trespassing at a minimum. I hope one of them falls off, serve 'em right. They're just vandals.

Looking at today's papers I see that there was/is a permanent armed police guard and they let the protesters pass after they said what they wanted to do. Incredible.
Why have a guard if they'll let any Tom. Dick or Harry (or Jane) pass ? Is that all terrorists have to do, announce their presence and say they want to climb on the roof and the cops wave them on?
    Something crazy here.
Too bad Monty Python isn't around any more.

I say well done to those police. Blair & Co have behaved criminally in power, they deserve a bit of their own medicine. They should be thankful their homes aren't being cluster bombed or napalmed.

Trespassing, yes. Trespassers deserve death, do they? In every case? Only in cases that you disagree with politically?

They are vandals? What did they vandalise?

I would love to have such evil "trespassing" "vandals" give me free solar panels and offer to install them. I doubt I'll ever be that lucky, though.
