Blair forced from his chosen subjects

From the Independent: New controversy over Iraq forces Blair from his chosen battlefields

Tony Blair was forced on the defensive over Iraq as he angrily refused to apologise for the war and appealed to his critics to stop questioning his integrity.

The general election is to elect the next government of the UK, NOT Iraq.

There are many other issues to consider, obsessing over Iraq is a big mistake, the country deserves better.

If a candidate's only position is that of being "antiwar" then that candidate is unqualified for office.

But Blair opted to take the UK into Iraq while NOT having the people on his side.

Rewarding him for this by reelecting him seems foolish to me.

It wasn't suggested that Blair deserved reelection, only that Iraq should not be the only factor in the election. Some will choose Blair anyway, many won't.

Gotcha. One obviously wouldn't vote for a candidate whose platform is to turn the UK in to an economic powerhouse like the People's Republic of North Korea. But there are other choices against Blair.

What the hell do you know about the UK anyway, precious little it seems.

To the first anonymous, the general election should also be about whether or not you trust the parties on a variety of issues. If you cannot trust a party on such a serious issue as a war, then there are not many areas in which you can say that you can trust them.

DJEB, unfortunately, in Britain, only the people of Sedgefield (Blair's own constituency) can actually personally punish Blair, Reg Keys, the father of a dead British soldier is doing his best over there to do just that.

Anonymous, I believe djeb knows a bit about Britain, at the very least, djeb is not one of those narrow minded bigots we often seem to hear from, from across the pond.

I think it's enlightenment in general. I've been told I don't know about the UK. But if I don't know, how do I know what I don't know about? Better tell me everything.
