    The Propaganda Model in Action

"I'm baaaaaaack!" smugly proclaims Jeff Gannon with no hint of shame for undermining the important principle of "a cantankerous press, an obstinate press, a ubiquitous press" that is necessary "in order to preserve the... greater values of freedom of expression and the right of the people to know." [Judge Gurfein on the Pentagon Papers case] The Gannon redux from American Progress: GANNONGATE – MAINSTREAM MEDIA BLACKOUT

It's a story flush with intrigue – CIA secrets, White House malfeasance, hidden identities, even male prostitution. Yet, as Salon.com's Eric Boehlert describes, the serious questions surrounding White House "reporter" Jeff Gannon have received only scant coverage in the mainstream media; two of the broadcast television networks, "as well as scores of major metropolitan newspapers around the country, have completely ignored it." And evidence of a double standard is plentiful. Just two months ago, "virtually every major news outlet" covered a similar (yet far less egregious) story involving Edward Lee Pitts, the Tennessee reporter "who helped a National Guardsman craft a tough question posed to Secretary Rumsfeld regarding the lack of body armor for U.S. soldiers fighting in Iraq."

As I mentioned yesterday, the so called "Religious" right are very quiet on Gannon aren't they. No doubt they have more important things on their minds, like the influence of Shrek and Tinky Winky.

Don't forget the negative societal influence of Sponge Bob.

Oh right, so that's why the so called "religious" right are up in arms about Sponge Bob, but don't seem to mind torture and abuse.

Forget the religious right, here's what the wacko right has to say:

"Press passes can't be that hard to come by if the White House allows that old Arab Helen Thomas to sit within yards of the president."
    - Ann Coulter

    Hooray for racism!

I've heard about Ann Coulter in the past, she does appear to be quite racist.
