    Is Blair a war criminal?

Well, i've answered the question here, but the Sunday Herald asks the question: War Criminal?

According to eminent QC and Labour peer – and now Sunday Herald columnist – Helena Kennedy, Washington ordered Downing Street to find a legal opinion to justify the war. Certainly, the dominant view in legal circles and in the UK Foreign Office was that a US-led war, outwith the UN’s authority, was not justified. “The legal advisers at the Foreign Office had already taken the view that you needed a second resolution,’’ says Sands.

Military action against Iraq was justified under the UN Gulf War ceasefire resolution and Saddam's continued behaviour in violation of it and several subsequent resolutions. France et al wanted no invasion because of their side deals with Hussein. There was no hope of the UN doing anything to enforce their own resolutions so UK/US had to do it for them.
Onward to Darfur, the UN still won't face reality, what a useless outdated institution it is. In fact, historically, what has the UN EVER done ? Korea was only possible because the USSR was boycotting the SC for some reason, otherwise nothing would have been done then either.

How absolutely incorrect. UNSC Resolution 687 was explicitly worded to say the exact opposite of your claim - specifically paragraph 34 of said resolution.

Furthermore, the war violated Articles 2, 33 and 39 of the UN Charter and violated a 357 year old legal precident (the Treaty of Westphalia).
