Iraq inquiry head threatens to quit

According to this article, from the Times, Lord Butler has said that the entire Iraq inquiry committee would have to resign, unless Lord Goldsmith hands over that advice on the legality of invading Iraq. Now, this is getting interesting:

A senior figure close to the inquiry said Butler, a former cabinet secretary, had told Goldsmith at an informal meeting that his committee — appointed to investigate intelligence on Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction (WMD) — needed to see the legal advice Goldsmith had given Downing Street in March 2003. “Goldsmith told Butler to bugger off. He said his legal advice had nothing to do with WMD and he wouldn’t hand it over,” the insider said. “But Butler told him that unless he gave the committee his advice there was simply no point in the committee continuing.”
