    "Death of A Democracy" is a bit dramatic. When has Haiti ever been a democracy ? When has Haiti never been a basket case ?

    Read "Bonjour Blanc" (Penguin), good background tho' I fear even that Haiti is long gone.

    I think the article gives a useful insight into what happens when the US decided to "intervene" in another nation's affairs. Obviously sometimes it throws up some bad results.

    Haiti had a democratically elected leader. As for it being a basket case, look at who has pulled the strings in that country since it's inception.
