"Free and fair vote" impossible in Iraq

According to Iraq's main Sunni party, a "free and fair vote" is impossible in the current security nightmare of Iraq.

Although conservative Sunni clerics have urged an election boycott, the Iraqi Islamic party has until now backed the poll and submitted a large list of candidates. "I am fully with the ideas of elections, but the security situation does not make it possible for Sunnis to vote," Mr Abdel Hamid said.

Funny, they said the same thing about Afghanistan and look how well their election went.

Besides the Sunnis were the ones in power and they know there is no way they will get back in power. Most of the "security nightmare" is of their making.

There will be elections and it is up to the Sunnis to give up the bullet and take up the ballot.

The security nightmare is actually the fault of Bush and Blair, by failing to properly guard against the destruction of civilian infrastructure, and instead going straight to protect the oil fields immediately following the invasion into Iraq, they created the conditions which followed.

    WHAT!!!!????

People getting handed voter registration cards even if they were American peporters (Christian Parenti)? People voting more than once? Voter intimidation?

You are living in a fantasy world.

PS. Stop supporting Islam Karimov. The man is a brutal tyrant who boils people to death.
